High Country Humane

Our Backstory:

High Country Humane has been in operation since 2019 as the official animal shelter for the City of Flagstaff as well as Coconino County. We are contracted to accept strays, hospital holds, arrest holds, cruelty cases, bite quarantines, and MORE! Flagstaff is a bustling city with thousands of animal lovers, and Coconino County is the largest in the state; so it should be no shock to anyone that our intake numbers are in the thousands each year, and rising. We are proud to acknowledge that our shelter has consistently had a live release rate above 95% and maintained an ethical "No Kill" status, meaning we do not euthanize for length of stay or space. Our staff, fosters, volunteers, donors, and COMMUNITY are what make this all possible for the lost, homeless, sick/injured, and abandoned animals of Northern Arizona. We absolutely could not succeed without your support, so THANK YOU!

Paws to the Pedal: Help Us Save More Lives!

Years ago, our shelter was generously gifted a Toyota Sienna Minivan to use for the transport of our pets. This trusty steed has traveled THOUSANDS of miles since then: weekly adoption events all over town, fundraisers, to & from other animal shelters to rescue pets in need of a second chance, and TWO wildfire evacuations! As our organization continues to grow, we have quickly outgrown our beloved minivan and are desperately in need of an upgrade. More space = more lives saved! 

This Arizona Gives Day, we are raising funds to purchase a new van for our shelter and we need your help! 

We know that this is a large fundraiser, but every little bit helps. This new van will provide more space for the transport of pets and supplies. It will also provide priceless peace of mind for our staff and volunteers who rely on it weekly. Please consider donating today to support our mission.
