Beacon Group

A nonprofit organization

Beacon Group creates opportunities for people with disabilities. Focusing on employment, we serve 2,000 people with disabilities annually.

Founded in 1952, Beacon Group is one of the preeminent providers of employment related services for people with disabilities in Arizona. Over nearly 70 years, tens of thousands of adults and young adults have accessed the vital training, support, and work experience they need through Beacon.

Beacon serves mainly Southern Arizona and the greater Phoenix area. We are known for providing a wide variety of options to fit employment needs and desires of each individual with disabilities, including supported employment, center based employment, trial work experience, transition to employment, and tailored employment related training programs as well as job placement and coaching services once on the job.

Our employment training programs teach the meaning and value of the work environment through developing new work behaviors and attitudes - skills that move them closer to their employment goals. This also includes offering pre-employment skills to find and secure the right job through pre-employment and post-employment support.
Beacon Group has a proven track record of connecting with both large and small business partners to provide people with disabilities work in an integrated setting. In fiscal year 2019, we placed over 300 individuals into new community positions outside of Beacon and provided work for over 700 within our own operations. Beacon operates group work teams at 230 community worksites where people with disabilities can work and train on supervised crews within local, national and international businesses.
Our array of programs contribute to long-term improvements in employment opportunities for people with disabilities through diversified approaches that strengthen individual economic and social well-being, while providing real benefits for organizations and the community.

Finally, Beacon Group provides services to adults with developmental disabilities that focus on training, supervision, therapeutic activities, and other services to promote skills development in independent living, self-care, communication, and social relationships. We provide person-centered services that focus on community access. An individual service plan is developed to help people with disabilities increase their independent functioning and personal/social skills through integrated community setting and activities.

Our activities contribute to long-term improvements in employment opportunities for people with disabilities through diversified approaches that strengthen individual economic and social well-being, while providing real benefits for organizations and the community.
