Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary

A nonprofit organization

OUR MISSION IS TO RESCUE, PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE, NUTRITIOUS FOOD, AND SUPERIOR LOVE & CARE IN AN AMAZING SANCTUARY SETTING TO HOSPICE AND SENIOR LARGE DOGS THAT ARE LOCATED IN ARIZONA AND SURROUNDING AREAS.

DOGTREE PINES is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit senior dog rescue & sanctuary located on 6 acres in the pines of Prescott, Arizona. We are dedicated to seniors in need of a forever home, medical, hospice and end of life care. We primarily intake high risk, med-large breeds who are 10 years and older. We adopt & foster out a few, but the majority that come to the pines are here to stay. We support them with great food, supplements, medications, & love until the time of their passing. People call it "Doggie Disneyland" as we supply everything needed for health and happiness. We call it "DOGTREE PINES SENIOR DOG SANCTUARY - Where miracles happen"

WHY SENIORS?
They are the sweetest, most appreciative dogs! Almost all the dogs we rescue have come from horrible circumstances. Some were once somebody's dog and knew a better life, but for circumstances we will never know or understand, have ended up homeless, lost, sick, injured, neglected, ignored, or on the euthanasia list with no hope of rescue. They deserve better than that and they know better. "No dog deserves to die alone in a cage on a cold concrete floor, certainly not seniors that have given their entire lives to us!", states Cindy Lamont, Founder.

THE STATE OF THE UNION
Seniors are being dropped at shelters, dumped and euthanized in record numbers right now. Seniors are especially hard to adopt out because they have limited time left and may have unusually large vet bills. Very few people go to a shelter looking to adopt an old broken dog that they will only have for a very short time. In addition, rescues face the same challenges. Seniors cost more, require more time and effort and they cannot recoup an adoption fee in most cases. These old guys usually sit at the shelter, uncomfortable and in pain, until eventually they are euthanized. Dogtree Pines gives these dogs the joy, love and health that they deserve and when it comes time, a loving passing.

Testimonials

As a donor, Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary fills a gap in our community. So often senior dogs are looked over for a puppy or a more active dog. Dogtree Pines gives senior dogs the best days for the remainder of their lives.

Cindy is truly in incredible human being who gives a final (and happy) home to senior dogs, often with many medical issues. Her care and love for these animals is nothing short of exemplary and you can see in their eyes, the incredible gratitude they have for this amazing woman.

I found a post from Cindy on Facebook about my new dog King, he was slated to be euthanized because he was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Also, he was weak from neglect and being on the run. I drove up from Scottsdale and Cindy had him resting with the local vet. She wasn't sure he was going to make it, but during the course of the following week he came around and she told me I could come and pick him up. If not for the sanctuary, King would be another statistic in the sad story for many dogs.
But he is on the road to recovery and quite a character!

Tucker, an 8 yr. old Great Pyrenees needed a home quickly due to a life threatening illness his owner, my friend, had. Several people expressed interest in adopting him and none followed through due to his size, and some medical needs. That is when Cindy Lamont, Founder of Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary stepped up and gave him a home. Having known Tucker for many years I wanted to insure that Tucker was in a good place to meet his needs and I requested a tour from Cindy...that was when I fell in love with Dogtree Pines and all the residents. Each of the senior residents live in the main house with Cindy and her partner Bill, on beds which cover the floors of many of the rooms as well as human beds. Homemade food with supplements needed for each dog are provided for all meals. Walks in the pines on 3.5 acres greet each dog daily as well as individual walks, provided by volunteers, around the neighborhood if desired. Hydro-therapy is provided to improve many physical limitations of these seniors and all their medical issues are quickly addressed by area veterinarians.
After my initial tour of Dogtree Pines I couldn't return fast enough to help and be a part of this amazing sanctuary. I currently am on the Board of Directors and spend time researching funding sources to assist with the tremendous expenses incurred in providing the needed services to the unwanted, medically fragile, senior dogs who reside at Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary.

I have volunteered with several animal rescue organizations, primarily in San Diego, ranging from small to large size, all-inclusive and senior animals. None has touched my heart as much as Dogtree Pines Senior Dog Sanctuary in Prescott, AZ...
