Helping Hands for Single Moms

Helping Hands for Single Moms' mission is to assist low income single mom families as the mother attains a postsecondary education, financial independence, and a positive family legacy. 
We not only provide scholarship funds /financial assistance, but also an array of supportive services to these women  to alleviate stumbling blocks or extra burdens. These include auto repairs, rent assistance as needed, medical /optical care for the moms, laptops and /or repair, and more. As long as the mom continues to meet the requirements of our program with regard to income, grades, credit hours and participation, the scholarship continues until graduation.

Dear Chris, and Helping Hands for Single Moms,
When I was first selected to be a recipient with Helping Hands for Single Moms, I was struggling to pay my rent, keep food on the table, I only had about $10 in my bank account, I was depressed and frustrated with life. I knew I had to get a college education in order to get my son and I out of poverty, but I didn't know how in the world I was going to do it. I remember talking by phone with you the first time and hearing about the marvelous program.  It was like a small piece of hope had entered my life. You came into my life as strangers, but you were so invested in seeing me succeed and reaching my full potential. You saw greatness in me even when I didn't see it in myself.

The amount of times I have received assistance from HHFSM and partnering individuals or companies are countless. From receiving the monthly stipend, to annual Holiday Happiness Christmas gifts, to the car that was donated to me ...and the sporting events I would have never been able to afford on my own; each act of kindness will never be forgotten.
I have graduated from The University of Arizona with my Bachelors of Science. I was one of two students honored at the graduation ceremony for overcoming obstacles and achieving academic excellence.  Thanks to my village, I am finally fulfilling my wildest dreams.
I want to thank you and the whole program for believing in me, investing in me and most of all showing me the meaning of community. O n the days that I felt small and weak you showed up in my life through an email or an event that sparked me to keep moving forward. 

I finished as a strong, independent, educated woman who will work to inspire other people in my community. This is not a "goodbye" but an "until next time". I love coming back to HHFSM as a volunteer and as a donor, continuing the cycle of giving.
