Arizona Pet Pantry's mission is to help seniors keep their pets at home and to assist our seniors with spaying and neutering of feral cats.

At Arizona Pet Pantry, we believe that animals are an invaluable source of love and companionship for many seniors-and seniors can be ideal, responsible caretakers for their beloved animals when given adequate support. Unfortunately, life events can sometimes leave seniors temporarily unable to care for their pets thoroughly. The reasons are varied and can include economic hardship, a health crisis, or a change in living situation. But the end result is the same: the older person is left feeling helpless, not wanting to relinquish a beloved pet or pets to a shelter, and not aware of any other options.

This is where we step in. We are not a food bank. We offer a helping hand to seniors 62 years and older who need that individualized approach. The Arizona Pet Pantry was started in 2015 to help limited- resource seniors in the Pima County area provide for the needs of their companion animals. While our mission is "to help seniors keep their pets at home and to assist seniors with spaying and neutering of feral cats," the scope of services that Arizona Pet Pantry offers is ever evolving and diversifying to contribute to the welfare of both seniors and their companion animals.

Because we know each person's situation, each companion animal, and each relationship between them is unique, we take a multi-pronged, individualized approach with everyone who seeks our help. Beginning with a comprehensive advising/intake session, we work with seniors on a personalized assistance plan that may include any of the following and more: home visits, pet food delivery, funding for vaccinations, referrals to partner spay/neuter clinics and other organizations, etc. In short, we make every effort to support older pet guardians so that they won't have to choose between taking care of themselves and taking care of their pet-not to mention surrendering the latter to a shelter. With our distinctive approach to personalized support, Arizona Pet Pantry endeavors to keep companion animals in their loving homes.
