Boxer Luv Rescue is celebrating it's 27th year of giving new life to homeless Boxers in need. Founded in 1998, over 12,000+ homeless, abused, abandoned, and surrendered Boxer dogs have been rescued from shelters, humane societies, and owner surrenders.
Boxer Luv Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides shelter, food and medical care while the rescue awaits their forever families through a network volunteers. Our volunteers are dedicated individuals who work with our new Boxers, many of who are found by authorities and have been abused or seriously neglected, resulting in serious medical issues and injuries. Each Boxer is evaluated and provided the medical care needed including shots and sterilization. They are rehabilitated in a foster home until they find their forever family. In the past few years, we have seen a dramatic increase in the medical needs of our Boxers because of neglect, abuse, Valley Fever, and Heartworm infections, and as a result our medical needs have also increased dramatically.
Managed by all volunteers who foster the dogs, run fundraising and adoption events, conduct home visits, and write grants. BLR relies primarily on private donations, grants.
Boxer Luv has achieved a stellar reputation in the Phoenix area and across Arizona for its responsiveness to Boxers in need. We are on the call lists of the majority of veterinarians, police officers, and firefighters who contact us when they find a Boxer in need in our community.
Every year, Boxer Luv is challenged by more and more "medical" dogs -- dogs with physical problems due to neglect or cruelty. As a result, medical costs to heal the dogs and properly place them into a loving family are high. A donation to Boxer Luv helps a homeless or abandoned dog that is hurt or sick -- heal and find a loving family!
Although it doesn't happen often, if there are unfortunate events in a family that has adopted one of our dogs, we will take them back to assure our boxers are safe and properly rehomed again. Once a Boxer Luv dog, always a Boxer Luv dog!
"Each boxer has his or her unique personality, adding a special quality to a household. We'd like to tell you about BLR Luca. He came from Tucson with a growth on his cheek. For this reason, he was apparently turned in at a local shelter. In the end, all that was required was a dose of antibiotics for this beautiful 8-month old pup. He is now about nine years old, enjoys his morning walk with the excitement of a three-year old, sunbathing, going on drives and cuddling with his family members. All it took to save him from his former circumstances, and a potentially poor outcome, was that dose of antibiotics - and a BLR rescue mission. We strongly believe dogs know they have been given a second chance at life and love. We will continue to give as many as we can their rightful opportunity at life through BLR."
