Testimonials

"I am incredibly impressed with both teachers and administration at Desert Star. The culture of this school is pleasant and largely free of the chronic meanness and bullying that has become so ubiquitous elsewhere. This is no accident. The staff and the curriculum actively strive to create an environment of respect and thoughtfulness, where children can focus on learning and growing. From the festivals to the numerous special classes to the holistic academic instruction to the time kids get to spend in nature, this school is a very special place." -, Parent

"It's so neat to watch the children play at Desert Star. Recess is enjoyable because the kids get along with no fighting. If there are problems, they are pulled out for talking circles. We know that social skills, self-regulation, and emotional intelligence are big determiners of happiness and success in life, and we try to model these qualities as well as study virtues." -- Teacher

"We want Desert Star students to do more than score well on tests. We want them to be doers, makers, leaders, creators, thinkers. . ." - Board Member
