No one should have to face life's aging challenges alone. With Duet, you don't have to. As an organization celebrating 43 years of service, we were built on the idea of interpersonal connections. Your generosity will help the growing number of people who are turning to Duet to be their partner in health and aging.
Homebound Adults: Duet brings together compassionate volunteers in our community with homebound adults, 'neighbors,' who can no longer drive yet wish to remain living in their own homes with dignity. Our free-of-charge services include grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, friendly visiting and phoning, minor handyperson services, tech assistance, and paperwork assistance.
Family Caregivers: A family caregiver is anyone who provides unpaid care for a loved one. Many family members and friends do not consider such care "caregiving" - they are just doing what comes naturally to them. But that care may be required for months or years, and can take an emotional, physical, and financial toll. Duet is here to help family caregivers take better care of themselves, so they in turn can take better care of their care partners. Services include support groups (virtual and in-person), an annual symposium, Finding Meaning and Hope video discussion series for dementia family caregivers, peer support, and personalized information and referral.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: Parenting isn't easy - especially the second time around. Duet provides services in English and Spanish to ensure grandparents raising grandchildren have tools and resources to be successful in their lives. These grandfamilies receive help through support groups, respite, family outings, benefit counseling, workshops, legal guidance, and personalized referral information.
"It just helps in every way knowing Jim is going to be here twice a month with my groceries." - Evan, homebound adult
"The [Finding Meaning and Hope] series gave me new ways of understanding dementia and how to care for my loved one - and myself. I truly learned how to have hope in my journey." - courageous family caregiver
"I gave a tax credit donation to Duet because they have helped my own grandfamily over the years. Duet is on the ground helping families like mine when we need support the most." - Barbara, grandparent raising grandchildren
"Duet gave me a friend - and friends are treasures. How would I get to the grocery store without her? Seeing my volunteer, Andrea, carries me through the rest of the week until I see her again." - Anna, homebound adult
