Equine WellBeing Rescue Inc

A nonprofit organization

Providing loving rehabilitation, nursing and hospice care for equine with medical needs and finding homes or sanctuary for others at risk.

We are a smaller rescue that started as a private nonprofit in 2006 and became a 501c3 public charity in July of 2011. We began helping find good homes for horses that people could no longer keep. In a short time we were helping rescue horses from auctions and feedlots too. In 2013 we moved the rescue from Ramona, CA to Snowflake, AZ to a larger ranch with more room to spread out.

We are an all volunteer organization, no one gets a salary or wages. With my background as an equine vet tech we are able to take in medical and emaciation cases and horses with special needs. In all, we have 40 horses, donkeys and minis at the rescue and 2 horses in foster training. Sometimes we provide emergency vet funds, euthanasia funds and we recently started an emergency food fund (see paragraph 3). I

We have a large network of rescues we work with throughout the country and have established a solid reputation in the rescue world. Our organization has been rated a TOP Nonprofit by Great Nonprofits since we first applied in 2013, and we have a Platinum rating from GuideStar for our transparency. As a small rescue, we work very hard.

2017 - We started 'Hope's Legacy Emergency Equine Food Fund' after two local horses starved to death because the owners waited too long to reach out for help. EqWBR received a grant for $10,000 from the Doris Day Animal Foundation in 2021 . To date we have spent $17,891 to help 327 equines. We also provided veterinary funds in the amount of $3000 to assist 60 equines.

Over the last decade we have rescued or assisted in the rescue of hundreds of equine from orphaned foals, emaciation cases, horses people could no longer afford, feedlot/auctions horses and donkeys, and more recently provided sanctuary for elderly, hospice and permanently lame equine. There are lots of great charities that people can donate to and we appreciate every dollar that comes to us and put it to excellent use. No one gets a salary or is paid wages so all the money can go to the rescue, care and providing for the horses and donkeys in need.

Dee Corcoran: I have had the pleasure of working with Christine Griffin at Equine WellBeing Rescue. I have been there to see the care she provides, the vet visits, farrier, chiropractor, shelter raisings. She is the most professional and caring horse person I know. I have helped with daily chores, putting up panels, cleaning and feeding. She always has patience and answers to all my questions. I've been there for the good days, and during the bad, the illnesses and the letting go. Every step of every day good or bad, it's always about what is best for the horses.
