KXCI Community Radio (91.3FM terrestrially and streaming online via KXCI.org) is a Tucson institution. This independent, community-centric and passionately eclectic station has been broadcasting for more than thirty- five years from the historic Armory Park neighborhood. With more than 35,000 weekly listeners and 2,500 supporting members, KXCI is an essential platform for connecting the communities of Tucson and Southern Arizona. Nationally recognized as one of the United States' best community radio stations, KXCI offers a diverse range of programming from adventurous and inclusive music mixes to progressive public affairs programming. Listeners tune in to Locals Only, the Vinyl Frontier, or Arizona Trails to hear the defining Tucson sound. In August 2017, KXCI began broadcasting from its new adjunct studio at Club Congress in the heart of downtown Tucson where we broadcast live and host in-studio sessions with local musicians and touring bands, placing them even more directly at the forefront of music and culture in the Southwest.
Your station just continues to amaze us with the consistently awesome programming. You guys are the absolute best! Keep it up KXCI, and thanks for being there!
Whenever I turn on KXCI, which is pretty much every day, there are always treasures waiting to be discovered. I am always dumbfounded, astonished and delighted by the immensity and variety of the collective musical knowledge, which shows the love and dedication of the staff and volunteers. Not to mention the consistent uplift and amplification of so many voices in the community who otherwise wouldn't be heard. Thank you and keep on rocking it!
Your station is one of the best things about Tucson! So glad that I stumbled onto you several years ago and decided to become a member. :)
One listener shared the Congregation's newsletter where she wrote about music. "I wrote this back in November, but it's as true now as ever. The theme of the month for the temple newsletter was 'gratefulness' and the rabbi had asked me to write the as well as to choose something "to stand up for," in Hebrew, to be a shomrim, or one of the protectors of something. So I chose music.A community not only has a heart, but a voice, and even a song. In dark times and bright hours, KXCI has offered these things to Tucson. Hope is the message. And it locks into delicious grooves. It is always a thrill to hear my voice going out on KXCI's mad and holy airwaves. Their aim is true!- Author Luis Alberto Urrea
I was just remarking the other day to a friend about how strange it seems that, although I have lived in California now for a few years longer than my time growing up in Tucson, I will always consider Arizona my home. And, whenever I am in need of refueling, I come and visit my folks in Tucson and Tubac... however, if I am ever jonesing for my desert fix and can't seem to get out to AZ, all I have to do is turn on KXCI. Thank YOU guys for all of the great work you do, the great music you play, and for keeping us ex-desert-dwellers connected from afar. Brandon Devine, KCRW
We want to thank you for all your support and hard work on helping out the Tucson Musicians Museum, you did a great job on making this years event the best we have had. -George Howard, President, Tucson Musicians Museum.
Many thanks to KXCI for the air-time and the assistance in recruiting volunteers for the 2017 Homeless Street Count. This point-in-time count of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness is important to help our community understand and plan for the needs of those without housing and to succeed in obtaining funding to provide housing. And community involvement is vital to conducting an accurate count.- P. Settle Madden :: TPCH Continuum of Care Administrator
We really valued you helping us promote our event. We look forward to working with you again in the future. Sophia Tucson Village Farm
