Your support enables ASTA to advocate for science education, develop strong leaders, and foster a thriving community of educators. With your help, we can continue shaping the future of science education in Arizona.
THANK YOU!
The Arizona Science Teachers Association (ASTA) is dedicated to empower Arizona’s science educators by providing meaningful professional learning, advocating for strong science education policies, and fostering a supportive network of educators. Since 1954, ASTA has provided high-quality professional learning in science content and pedagogy, using teacher survey data to tailor programs that meet the diverse needs of educators across Arizona. Serving PreK through post-secondary educators, ASTA has over 1,000 members and reaches more than 4,000 science teachers statewide.
Mission and Impact
ASTA’s mission is to inspire, engage, and support educators in preparing STEM learners for success. Science teachers play a critical role in shaping the next generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and scientifically literate citizens, and ASTA is committed to equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
ASTA also recognizes that teacher retention is essential for maintaining high-quality science education. Research shows that 80% of former educators leave the profession due to burnout, while 73% struggle to maintain work-life balance. By addressing these challenges, ASTA ensures that science educators have the support and tools necessary to thrive in their careers while making a lasting impact on students.
ASTA offers a variety of programs designed to enhance science teaching, develop leadership skills, and provide ongoing professional support. These initiatives ensure that educators receive relevant, research-based training that directly translates into effective classroom instruction.
By investing in science educators through innovative professional learning and ongoing support, ASTA strengthens Arizona’s STEM education system, ensuring students receive engaging, standards-based science instruction that prepares them for the future. Through advocacy, leadership development, and a strong community of educators, ASTA continues to be a driving force in shaping the future of science education in Arizona.
"I also need to say thank you to ASTA because I have learned so much from everything that they have supplied. I can't imagine this 2nd year being so great without their support!"
"Attending the conference this weekend was a great opportunity. I presented my first workshop ever, I walked away from other workshops with several new ideas, and I had the chance to see a really well-organized conference! This last piece was especially interesting to me because my leadership goal this year revolves around planning professional development at my school."
"I am teaching 5th grade science next year. I hope to implement 3-dimensional learning in my classroom as much as possible! Thank you for providing this great opportunity to meet such an incredible educator!"
"I love that this was an in-person rather than a virtual event. Being able to connect face-to-face with other educators in the same field was very valuable for me."
