The mission of Foothills Animal Rescue is to save lives through the rescue, care and adoption of homeless cats and dogs.

Since 1995, Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR) has been dedicated to reducing the homeless pet population in our community through rescue, care and adoption services. FAR provides a warm bed, food/water, socialization and plenty of TLC to dogs and cats while working toward finding them a loving family and a permanent home.

FAR is a nonprofit, adoption guarantee shelter based in Scottsdale. Many of the dogs and cats at FAR have been transferred from large shelters that are overcrowded and in need of kennel space. Some of the dogs and cats may have been at risk for euthanasia at those shelters but once at FAR, they are given a safe haven until they can be placed with a loving family.

In December 2016, FAR moved into its Brynne Smith Memorial Campus & Adoption Center in north Scottsdale. The Campus memorializes a spirited young lady with a special saying: 831; 8 Letters, 3 Words, 1 Meaning - I Love You. In July 2017, the Campus received the Judges Special Award of Excellence at the Gold Nugget Awards, which honors design and planning entries throughout the United States.

Since moving into the Brynne Smith Memorial Campus & Adoption Center, FAR has found homes for nearly 4,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. As a nonprofit organization, FAR relies heavily on donations from the community to support its lifesaving work and programs.
