At the Humane Society of Sedona (HSS), we live our mission statement every day, to show that, "We are dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in our communities." Our vision is to build a caring community where every adoptable and treatable companion animal finds a life-long loving home. The Shelter provides crucial services as the only free-standing, local animal welfare organization within a 20 mile or greater circumference.

We are proud to have a Best Friends No Kill Shelter status. HSS regularly saves animals from other rescues or shelters who would be euthanized due to lack of space or lack of financial means to treat health concerns.  No healthy companion pet or animal with a treatable behavior or medical condition will ever be euthanized at our Shelter.

Contributions during Arizona Gives Day go directly into a donor-funded, restricted account--the Emergency Medical Fund. Dozens of critically ill and injured cats and dogs are saved annually through life-changing medical interventions made possible through the EMF. 

As a 501(c)(3) federally recognized non-profit, we are reliant on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society's two thrift stores, and some fees for service in order to care for and save hundreds of homeless companion animals each year.
