NorthBridge College Success Program

NorthBridge was founded on the principle that youth with learning differences can transition and excel in postsecondary education with specialized and individualized support. The mission is to provide support, resources, and guidance to students with learning differences as they transition to, persist, and succeed in higher educational and vocational opportunities.

History:
NorthBridge was founded by leaders at New Way Academy in 2011, when they recognized the need for a comprehensive college support program for students who learn differently. These learning differences include dyslexia, ADHD, the Autism spectrum (ASD), non-verbal disorder (NVLD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), hearing and vision loss, anxiety, depression, and other learning challenges. Since 2011, NorthBridge has served hundreds of students who learn differently at over 20 colleges across the state/nation. As the only Postsecondary Transition and Success Program for students with learning differences in Maricopa County, NorthBridge is excited to provide new services, expand to new sites and help more students achieve their postsecondary goals.

Programming:
College Success Program: Comprehensive support system focused on both academic success and personal development. Includes the following:
-Complete degree planning (course recommendations)
-Weekly 1:1 academic tutoring sessions
-Weekly 1:1 executive functioning coaching sessions
-Monthly coordinated social events

High school Success Program: Comprehensive support system for high school students grades 9-12 focused on both academic success and personal development implementing the following areas:
• Weekly 1:1 sessions that address the following:
• Academic support/tutoring in high school courses
• Executive functioning coaching
• Includes time management, self advocacy, organization, communication with teachers, planning ahead, coping strategies, etc.
• Monthly coordinated social events
• Weekly grade updates sent to both students and parents
• Monthly workshops

Test Prep: Customizable ACT/SAT/GED test-prep program: Students receive assessment specific strategies along with a content refresher, allowing students to accurately demonstrate their academic proficiency. Test prep concepts include but are not limited to:
• Mathematical Reasoning
• Reasoning Through Language Arts
• Social Studies
• Science
• Writing

Career Prep
Individualized job coaching to students in their field of choice. We assist them with career readiness, including the following skills:
● Creating and updating resumes and cover letters
● Searching for appropriate job opportunities
● Applying for jobs online through various portals
● Creating and updating Linked-In profiles
● Contacting current and/or former professors as references for job applications.
● Mock Interviews
● Prepared interview questions
