In 2022-2023, PCM served over 2,000 students with over 12,000 hours of direct instruction.
After School Programs: After school programs happen off site (e.g. Schools, Libraries, Boys and Girls Clubs). They are with largely with Title 1 schools in lower socio-economic areas. Programs are1-3 hours per week for 5 weeks to a full year in guitar, voice, taiko drumming, world music, etc. These programs are highly interactive and focus on building developmental assets. They are funded through grants. Students participate at no cost.
School Capacity Building: School Capacity building works with schools and districts to provide access to professional development, partnership and relationship building, community networking and providing teaching resources to school music teachers and programs in need (e.g. providing musicianship programs, theory programs, popular music pedagogy and coaching, music technology pedagogy and coaching, sectional work, etc.)
Group Classes are facilitated at our location. They are a jumping board of learning for beginning musicians. With programs for babies, to our little hands series, and a beginning series for children, teens and adults. These programs are no to low cost, with some being free drop in programs. Weekly programs included: Parent/Tot Music Time (Free Early Childhood Music Class), Piano, Violin, Singing, Guitar and Percussion for Little Hands ages 4-7, Piano, Violin, Singing, Guitar and Percussion for Youth ages 8-14, Piano, Violin, Singing, Guitar and Percussion for ages 15+, No Cost Drop In Ear Training and Open Jams, Audio Production. Summer programs included: Sensational Singers, Music Around the World, Rock N Roll Singing, Guitar Pals, Piano Pals,Drum Line Readiness, Audio Production, Singer Songwriter Jam, Swing Into Jazz, Camp Rock. During the fiscal year 2022-2023, Phoenix Conservatory of Music's programs: Summer Camps served 373 students in 49 week long classes with 1,155 hours of direct instruction and 7 family sharing events at no cost to the community. Learning Through Music served 301 students who qualify for free/reduced lunch or attend a Title 1 school with no cost programming. The program consisted of 15 classes per week for grades K-2, 10 classes per week for grades 3-8, and 8 classes per week for grades 9-12 for 30 weeks and had 840 hours of direct instruction. In house classes served 252 students in 4-6 week classes, a total of 25 classes were held with 140 hours of direct instruction. Our Parent/Tot Music served 124 family enrollments with 12 six week classes and provided 72 hours of direct instruction. Our Pre-K Music school served 41 students with 4 classes per week for 30 weeks and 360 hours of direct instruction. These programs have been able to be offered to the community at no cost.
Private Music Lessons are a way for us to deepen the learning with long term, intense skill building and craft development. With a sliding tuition scale, we provide market rate lessons, lessons on financial aid at a reduced rate for families in need, and private music lessons on full scholarship. Private Lessons served 343 students with a total of 7,645 hours of direct instruction over the year. 50% of these hours were provided under our low/no cost scholarships for families in need.
PCM's College Prep Program is a nationally award winning after school program for contemporary music education. Members with Berklee College of Music's City Music Network. This robust after school program for students in 4th grade through 12th, gives up to 100 students opportunities to learn in a setting that mimics college study with private lessons, contemporary music ensembles, music theory, relevant enrichment programs and many performance opportunities. College Prep served 85 students through 12 Ensembles, 8 Theory Classes, 10 Enrichment Classes, 10 performances and 900+ hours of direct instruction.
