Bryan’s Story: From Rock Bottom to Redemption

Bryan's life was once marked by addiction, homelessness, and hopelessness. After years of battling substance abuse, losing his family, and even dying from an overdose before being revived, he finally reached his breaking point. In desperation, he cried out to God—and that cry led him to House of Refuge Sunnyslope.

Since entering our Christ-centered transitional housing program, Bryan has experienced incredible transformation. With mentorship, accountability, and a supportive community, he’s rebuilt his life from the ground up. He now holds a full-time job with two promotions, is restoring his relationship with his teenage daughter, and is walking in freedom with Jesus at the center of his life.

Kimberly’s Story: A Life Transformed Through Hope and Stability

Before coming to House of Refuge Sunnyslope, Kimberly was overwhelmed by instability and fear. Homeless and out of resources, she was living in a hotel with her daughter, unsure of what the next day would bring. In desperation, she cried out to God—and He answered. On the very day she had to leave the hotel, a fully furnished apartment was ready for her at House of Refuge Sunnyslope.

Through the structure, Biblical foundation, and support of the HRS program, Kimberly found more than a place to stay—she found discipline, direction, and a renewed relationship with Christ. Today, she is a stable, confident mother with a clear vision for her future, including plans to attend college. She has grown spiritually, emotionally, and practically—learning everything from budgeting to Bible study—and she is proud to be a stronger daughter, sister, friend, and mom.
