Help Us Save Emerald Spring on Arizona's Mt. Graham!
Last summer, we began saving Emerald Spring as part of our Pinaleño Sacred Springs flagship project. Without immediate action it could be permanently eroded in as little as two years. Emerald Spring is a natural spring that has been forming since almost 12,000 years ago. It is an integral part of a mountain range ecosystem that is home to 16 species and subspecies of plants and animals found nowhere else in the world and a source of healing water to 12 regional American Indian tribes that consider Mt. Graham a sacred mountain.
In the summer of 2023 we built 22 erosion control structures that will help save Emerald Spring. But we still have another 20 structures to go! We are poised and ready to go, but unexpected costs from inflation and grant shortfalls have left us under-funded. Will you help out? Please consider a contribution of any amount. Take this opportunity to make a big difference in a local effort. Please donate today.
Our flagship project, the Pinaleño Sacred Springs Restoration Project, collaborates with scientists from the University of Arizona, staff from the US Forest Service, and wisdom keepers from the San Carlos Apache tribe.
Thank you!
