Shane's Story:

"Growing up I was involved in sports and extracurricular activities and enjoyed spending time with my family. My addiction initially began around the age of 11, when I started experimenting with marijuana. By the age of 15, I was regularly using narcotics.

I felt that drugs provided me with a sense of confidence, allowing me to be more social and put myself out there. Yet I now know that was a lie.

Right before entering Teen Challenge of Arizona, my circumstances were awful. I was heavily addicted to fentanyl and would be very sick if I did not have my fix.

The reason I am here at Teen Challenge is to obtain a better understanding of who Jesus is, so I am able to build a new foundation, seek restoration with my family and loved ones, and have a brand new life. I desire to be a godly man, husband, father, and servant.

My Favorite Scripture is Ephesians 4:22-23 - You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds."

Lexus' Story:

"My addiction began at the age of 18. After experiences in my life including abuse, I used drugs to run from my problems. I was angry and blocked myself off from relationships to protect myself.

Using, so I thought, helped me to focus on what I knew I had to do, which was work to make money, to take care of my child.

The main reason I came to Teen Challenge of Arizona's Home of Hope was to heal and grow closer to God with my child. God made every way possible for me to get here and opened all doors.

My heart has been trying to chase God, but I had family that kept me disconnected from that calling. My main concern was caring for my child and how I could get us away from the situation.

I hope to accomplish a deeper understanding of God, and I want to know and pursue Him just as he pursued me. I also hope to forgive some people dear to me while I'm here; as well as restore my family and be delivered from addiction.

My Favorite Scripture is Proverbs 4:23 - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
