THE FACE OF THE HOMELESS IS NOT WHO YOU MAY THINK - They are students at Yavapai College, Bradshaw and Prescott High School, in our elementary schools. The homeless are working at restaurants, serving you at Thrift Stores and Grocery Stores, and Construction sites. They are families living on friends' couches, living in the forest, parking lots, and trying to manage a family while living in a car.
As a Christ-based nonprofit, Agape House is not a shelter; it is a place to call home. Transitional Living: An interim place to raise their family, rebuild relationships, and prepare for a life of independence. Mentors help families rebuild and transform their lives through love, support, training, prayer, and the security of having a home.
Our PATHWAY TO INDEPENDENCE program has an 86% success rate of families living independently one-year after graduation.
Together we can change the face of homelessness, one family at a time. Here are a few stories...
THE NEWEST AGAPE HOUSE FAMILY - is a single mother with two teenagers. The family spent the last year in domestic violence shelters, living on family member's couches and a local temporary shelter.
Moving into her Agape House apartment, she quickly made it home. "Everything is amazing, and I'm definitely in nesting mode. You are all beyond incredible! This place feels like HOME, thank you!" The mother is currently facing health issues, navigating car problems, and is searching for a job. Through this journey, she trusts that God is at work and is excited about her future. She is delighted and grateful for the love, support, and encouragement from Agape House staff and volunteers. She will soon graduate from the PATHWAYS TO INDEPENDENCE program.
Her story is not an isolated incident, as Single Mothers comprise 80% of families served at Agape House, and 69% of the people we serve are victims of Domestic Violence.
A NEW BABY IS BORN - Agape House family celebrates the birth of a sweet little 5-pound baby girl into our family. We celebrate with her mom and big brother. Mom, brother, and baby are adjusting and doing well. New life is such a beautiful gift! Thanks to Agape House and our faithful partners, this precious family brought this baby home to a warm apartment with healthy food and a lot of support and encouragement. Please pray for this sweet mother as she raises her precious children.
