Founded in 1896, Florence Crittenton has been dedicated to serving at-risk and disadvantaged girls and young women. Driven by a vision of being the national leader in changing the future for girls, our mission is to give every girl whose life we touch safety, hope and opportunity.

Florence Crittenton provides shelter, housing, healthcare, education, counseling and social support to vulnerable girls and young women, ages 10-25. The agency annually provides various gender-specific, culturally competent and trauma-informed services to more than 1,000 clients, the majority of whom are low income.

Girls served have experienced complex behavioral health, academic and personal development issues that have negatively impacted their success at home, in school and in the community. The agency's highly effective programs provide a unique space for these girls to develop a strong sense of purpose and accountability as well as foster a commitment of service to others.

Testimonials

"Florence Crittenton is where I can finally rest my head knowing tomorrow there will be someone there to support me." Jenna, Former Florence Crittenton Therapeutic Group Home Client

"I was a girl that was treated wrong. I was a girl that was touched and loved in the wrong way. I was a girl that bottled this up because my parents lived their life like this and that's what they taught me to do. I don't really have much of support system family wise but Florence Crittenton has become my family, and this place feels like home to me. " Emily, Former Florence Crittenton Therapeutic Group Home Client

"Thanks to Florence Crittenton, I learned its okay to be ME. I am good enough and I can make a difference. " Mendy, Former Florence Crittenton Therapeutic Group Home and Girls Ranch Client

"My four years of high school at the Girls Leadership Academy have taught me there is no substitute for education. And I'm not saying that gratuitously, because I think it's important for every young woman...to hear what I have to say and believe that they, too, are capable of overcoming their disadvantages." - Janessa, Former Girls Leadership Academy of Arizona Student and is currently a Senior the Arizona State University in its Barrett Honors College

"At a young age, I was abused. The trauma evolved into me hating myself and wanting to die. It wasn't until I nearly overdosed on prescription drugs that I was sent to Florence Crittenton. I entered their Therapeutic Group Home the day after I left the hospital lucky to be alive. Florence Crittenton is the reason I realized that suicide is never the answer."

"I left detention after being there 195 days. I was scared to walk out and see the world, but I was ready to face it. Since being at Florence Crittenton, I am able to actually realize my weaknesses and change them. The staff always remind me that I'm bright and I have a future. I feel supported and cared for by everyone here. This place really changes you for the better."
