Our life-saving no-kill mission is to reduce the suffering of homeless cats and dogs by providing them a compassionate and enriching environment, appropriate medical care and loving permanent homes.
HOPE Animal Shelter is Tucson's first no-kill, no-cage shelter and accredited sanctuary for dogs and cats. We take in many special needs and senior animals and provide them with the loving care they so desperately need.
Consider the toll that abandonment takes on animals. They are scared, hungry, lonely, and oftentimes sick. These innocent creatures who help make the world a better place deserve gentle care, respect, dignity, and loving homes. They deserve HOPE.
Since 2005, HOPE Animal Shelter & Sanctuary has provided a no-kill, cage-free haven for dogs and cats while they await adoption. It offers a clean, loving environment that allows socialization and a smoother transition into a permanent home. HOPE ensures that all animals are well cared for both emotionally and physically during this trying time in their lives.
We absolutely will not euthanize any animal unless they are suffering and every option has been depleted. The sick and injured are nurtured and provided with veterinary care. Elderly animals or those with long-term illnesses are treated with dignity and loving-kindness. With our community, cage-free environment HOPE provides a sanctuary for these animals so they can live out their lives in peace and comfort.
I have volunteered here. It is the most amazing organization. Yes, having a forever home is so very important but this shelter truly takes care of their residents with a wonderful "no kill and no cage" shelter. They have a huge yard for the dogs to walk and run in daily. They are free to walk around with all of their friends in the shelter in clean rooms, with plenty of toys, treats, food, cozy beds and medical care if needed. Hope has many volunteers who love and play with them, feed them, walk them and assist them in finding forever homes. However, they could always use more help. Do try to volunteer or donate. I wish that all animal shelters would follow their lead and become "no kill and no cage shelters. Don't shop adopt!
This is a special place for cats & dogs! I was impressed by the clean and friendly community space the cats share! No cages! We just a adopted a sweet baby from here and are looking forward to making her a part of our family! Thanks HOPE!
My experience with HOPE was excellent. The foster mom for the dog I was interested in kept me fully informed and made sure I was a good match for the dogs needs. I met other staff and they were gracious, informed and great advocates for the available pets. I have had the dog at my home for a month now and I am very pleased that we were a good match
I wish I could give 10 stars! I have never seen such happy, relaxed animals at a shelter as those at HOPE. It's so nice to see them in spacious areas with plenty of room to play or lounge, and not in cages. The dogs and cats are well cared for, and the staff and volunteers are passionate about their well-being. I recently adopted a dog through their Precious Tails program, and I couldn't be happier. Thank you, HOPE!!!
