House of Broadcasting, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

The House of Broadcasting Inc. (HOBI) is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history, exciting personalities and fascinating paraphernalia and memorabilia of radio and television in Arizona. Because HOBI has never charged visitors to enjoy its museum displays, it relies on fundraising through private contributions and an annual Holiday Concert. Which in 2020 because of COVID was televised on KAZT-TV.

Your donation will help us find and fund a new museum location after our previous, leased space in Scottsdale was sold; and help fund student scholarship programs at ASU's Hugh Downs School of Human Communication, and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Since 1997, dedicated HOBI volunteers have donated countless hours to collecting broadcasting memorabilia, raising funds and developing community partnerships to educate the public about and preserve the history of Arizona broadcasting. More than 20 years later, HOBI hosts Arizona's largest collection of broadcast memorabilia, and is one of only five museums in the nation dedicated to the broadcast industry. Preserving Arizona's broadcast history means documenting and preserving the unique talents, creativity, and spirit through which Arizona developed a broadcast industry truly unique from others around the nation. The museum collection honors local broadcast trailblazers such as Red Harkins, Buck Owens, Marty Robbins, Wallace and Ladmo, Pat McMahon, Jack Clifford, Mary Jo West, Al McCoy and many more. Without HOBI, the importance of the broadcasting industry in shaping the history of Arizona would be lost. Preserving the history of these performing and technical artists, and those bold and visionary icons who founded Arizona's radio and TV stations, honors their contributions, helps develop and grow the future of Arizona broadcasting, and inspires future broadcasters. PHOENIX TELEVISION, a pictorial book that briefly describes the history of the major television stations in the Phoenix market is now available. This is one of the Images of America series of local history books by Arcadia Publishing . House of Broadcasting board members Dr. John Craft and Lisa Honebrink authored the book.
