Bringing comfort, dignity and compassionate care to our community.

When a loved one needs hospice, a new journey begins - one that focuses on making the most of every moment. Hospice of the Valley's experienced care teams ease that journey by tending to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and supporting family members. Founded in 1977 as Arizona's original hospice, we are the leading provider of hospice and supportive care in Maricopa and northern Pinal counties and the Tucson area, caring for more than 28,000 patients and their families last year. As one of the largest not-for-profit hospices in the country, we provide a safety net for those with no insurance, turning no one away for lack of financial resources. In 2024, $17 million in charity care services were provided to our community. Our mission has remained steadfast: Bringing comfort, dignity and compassionate care to our community.

We also provide a continuum of care services to help families earlier, long before hospice is needed - including 24/7 support by phone or nurse visit, even in the middle of the night. These are some of the innovative programs unique to Hospice of the Valley:

•Geriatric Solutions is home-based primary care for home-limited patients who find it hard to get to their doctors.

•Arizona Supportive Care helps those with advanced illnesses like heart disease and cancer manage symptoms and access community resources.

•Supportive Care for Dementia supports patients and families facing challenges during the dementia journey.

Hospice of the Valley's Dementia Care & Education Campus is a comprehensive model of care that helps people live life to the fullest and receive exceptional care for all types and stages of dementia. Family caregivers receive support; students are inspired to become leaders in dementia care; and health professionals learn and share best practices. The campus features:

•An Adult Day Club that provides stimulating programs and respite for caregivers, and spurs meaningful interaction and intergenerational enrichment with preschoolers in the adjoining Child Center.

•A small Assisted Living Center that serves residents living with any stage of dementia.

•A Hospice Inpatient Care Home for patients with more advanced stages.

•A state-of-the-art Community Education Center that offers workshops and interactive skills labs for both professionals and family caregivers.

•A Memory Café, where people with dementia and their care partners can find support and share experiences.

Our community programs include grief support for adults and children; assistance with Healthcare Decision Planning; and a Senior Placement Service that helps locate living arrangements for those who can no longer manage on their own - all provided at no cost to families.

We are honored to have more than 1,700 volunteers supporting our patients with their kindness and companionship, brightening days and lifting spirits with pet and music therapy visits. Volunteers also provide Shabbat Blessings to Jewish patients and visit veterans and first responders to honor them for their service. For information or to volunteer, visit hov.org or call (602) 530-6900.

Thanks to contributions from you, we are able to care for people who have nowhere else to turn, giving exceptional care and peace of mind to patients and their families at one of life's most vulnerable times. Donations help us provide some of the "extras," such as music, massage and pet therapy. We care for medically fragile babies and children; and support family caregivers with mindfulness meditation programs to ease stress.

We feel honored to serve our community. Thank you for your trust and generous support for over 48 years!

Testimonials

I would never have imagined that my memory of the day my dad died would be one of love, serenity and peace, but Hospice of the Valley gave that to me, and to all my family. In a frenzied world where end-of-life care is often overwhelming, cold and intimidating, Hospice of the Valley allows your loved ones to pass on with dignity and respect-a priceless gift.

I was incredibly scared and had a lot of questions. Every concern was addressed and every question was answered with such incredible compassion. I remember one day leaving to go to the car, and the amazing women asked me if they could give me a hug… my goodness YES, a hug was something I truly needed. I will never forget the help they provided and I am forever grateful my mom received such amazing care.
