To provide a safe and enjoyable baseball experience for individuals with disabilities or special health care needs.

We strive to create a successful baseball experience for each and every individual that comes to our ballpark, regardless of any mental or physical limitations. Players are assigned to teams based upon their age and skill level, and everyone gets paired with a one-on-one helper and friend that we call a "buddy". Buddies are there for encouragement, high fives, hand-over-hand assistance, or whatever the individual may need. Above all else, buddies are there for friendship and to make players feel welcome and accepted.
We also have a custom designed rubberized turf to allow easy maneuverability for wheelchairs and other ambulatory devices. Our ballpark is also equipped with accessible bathrooms and caregiver rooms, an adaptive playground, a picnic area, and even batting cages. We want our families to be able to make their trip a full day of fun at our facility.

Testimonials

We are the Lucero Family and we have been a part of The Miracle League of Arizona for just over a year now. We have two special needs children that play for this league. Priscilla is 13 years old and has Costello Syndrome, a rare multiple congenital anomaly disorder with an array of charactaristics including but not limited to craniofacial features, failure to thrive, musculoskeletal anomalies, developmental delays, cardiac abnormalities and predisposition to neoplacia, both benign and malignant. Priscilla loves the game of baseball and when we found The Miracle League she was ecstatic. Priscilla plays catcher and takes that position seriously. The Miracle League has changed her spirits and has given her something to look forward to every weekend. She has learned patience, endurance and loves all of the friends that she has made.

I did mention that we have two special needs children, our other daughter Tonee is nine years old. She was born with Down Syndrome and this came with only one cardiac issue but severe respiratory issues that she continues to battle to this day. We signed Tonee up with The Miracle League when we signed Priscilla up. She started out a little rough, but the buddies involved were real keen to pick up on her personality and rolled with it. She still has her rough days, but not as they used to be. Within the first season her demeanor started to change. Tonee doesn't play one particular position. She is most content with playing catch with her buddy on the sidelines. Like Priscilla, she looks forward to her baseball weekends.

The Miracle League of Arizona has become a huge part of our family. Our son, who happens to be sandwiched in between Priscilla and Tonee, has also become involved as a buddy. Ezekiel is 11 years old and loves being involved with special needs children. The Miracle League has helped enhance his personality so much more. He has always had a loving and kind heart, but now asks if there is any other way to help other children in need.

The Miracle League of Arizona is not just an organization. It is a family helping other families do things together. They have created a sense of community amongst all of the families involved in this organization. New and returning families are all welcomed as if they had been a part of the league from day one. We love this family and are so glad to be a part of it.

The Lucero Family,
Ray, Michelle, Dominique, Alyssa, Laura, Priscilla, Ezekiel, and Tonee
