Native American Advancement Foundation

A nonprofit organization

$2,250 raised by 6 donors

The Native American Advancement Foundation was formed in 2011 by members of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Through the combined efforts of our members and by partnering with outside organizations, we help strengthen our Native American communities in the areas of education, health and wellness, housing, food sustainability, environment, animal welfare, and opening economic opportunities on tribal lands.

We feel it crucial to assist the Gu Vo community by supporting education, healthy living, and healthy choices. Studies show that early intervention in education is key. NAAF's goal is to improve retention of middle and high school students and boost graduation rates while simultaneously providing training and educational opportunities for older community members. Thus, our ultimate goal is to build collective and individual self-esteem and promote overall well-being and self-sufficiency. NAAF's efforts are effective because most of our members are O'odham and as such have a vested interest and long-term commitment to the betterment of the community.
