Science Voices is a US-based nonprofit organization that works on the hardest problems in science education. Founded in 2019, we work all over the world to train educators in active learning methods, empower learners to bring science to their communities through impactful projects, and build teaching tools for low resource classrooms.
We currently work on 3 major projects:
Greenworks - a global environmental stewardship network that supports teachers in project-based teaching and their students in implementing local community projects. Cohort 1 teachers recently completed our teacher redevelopment program and are currently leading their students and local communities in developing and deploying environmental stewardship projects. Cohort 1 projects include Beeworks (Brazil - working with agroforestry communities in native stingless bee education and cultivation), Greenworks Ternate (Indonesia - working with business and marketing students in developing the green economy), Clean Rivers (Ukraine - working with Carpathian mountain communities in cleaning up river pollution and building geotourism opportunities), and Astrosustainability Incubator (US Virgin Islands - working with local businesses to cultivate better science-business integrations).
Agavi - an adaptive learning platform designed for smartphones that enables teachers to build innovative new experiences for their students. We expect to be testing our prototype later this year with Greenworks projects to support their educational infrastructure.
Sustainable States - a role-playing game that trains teachers and students in game-based learning through environmental diplomacy. We are developing software and hardware prototypes that we will begin testing later this year.
We also run the Global.Science podcast (currently on hiatus) that talks with teachers about their experiences in science teaching.
