We Care Tucson removes barriers to education, information and wellness by restoring donated technology and medical equipment to support a sustainable and equitable community.

You may remember us as World Care, known for our international disaster relief work for almost 25 years. As we sharpened our focus to address "local disasters", we changed our name to reflect our local, community-centered priorities. We still to do the same valuable work, but we've set our sights on Tucson and Southern Arizona.

WCT bridges the digital divide. To accomplish this we collect used technology, i.e., laptops, computers, monitors, cell phones, and more. We sort the donations, refurbish what we can, and recycle what we can't use - helping to keep all of these devices out of our local landfills. The refurbished computers and other usable electronics go into our store and are available for sale to the general public. We accept applications from those who are economically challenged for our low-cost computer program to help bridge the digital divide.

WCT's other program is the rental of durable medical equipment, which people can borrow for a minimal administrative fee, plus we provide free medical supplies for those in need.

Testimonials

My name is Aretha Varner and I have been volunteering at We Care Tucson for over three months, at least twice a week and daily if I can. I am a Pima Community College student in the IT program, so this opportunity to get hands-on learning is fantastic. However, what's more impressive to me are the things I do for our community as I watch lives change before me.

When I first came to, We Care Tucson I had no idea about the people I would encounter. Two months into my work here, I was asked to go along for a pick-up of medical equipment from a gentleman who had just lost his father. After arriving at his home on Tucson's east side, the emotions struck me. Even though we had never met, I could feel this gentleman's pain, which wasn't easy.
After loading up and heading out, we made another stop. We met an older woman and her daughter in a parking lot to deliver the wheelchair the gentleman had just donated. The daughter helped the woman into the wheelchair. As she sat in it, she became emotional and forever thankful; she kept repeating how grateful she was and how life-changing this wheelchair would be because insurance wouldn't provide it, and We Care Tucson did. I love being a part of the We Care Tucson family and watching the lives of people we impact daily. I am thankful to be a part of the team.
