The AZAdvances initiative supports the creation of Arizona-based health innovations and supports the development of the future workforce through internship and scholarship programs for Arizona Students. The ability to obtain real-word experience by working as an intern within a company helps students explore career paths, strengthen their educational applications, and build their resume. Unfortunately Arizona has more students aspiring to internships than we have internship opportunities. To address this challenge, AZAdvances Talent Interns will be hired by OTEF, mentored by our AZAdvances team on how to make the most of their internship experience, and then placed with local life science companies in a structured program designed to optimize both the intern's and the mentor's experience. By ensuring that all interns have access to paid positions, this program also addresses a significant equity barrier that many students face today.

Our work to advance health innovation and support today and tomorrow's life science innovators is possible thanks to community donations and our collaboration with the Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio).

Since it was created in 2011, the Student Discovery Zone program has helped over 1,400 students from Arizona high schools, community colleges. and universities make valuable connections with industry. We asked the students what they need and they told us. Arizona needs more internship opportunities and scholarships to help them realize their future educational and career goals.

That is why AZAdvances Talent was created.
