Our Charges and Fees

AZ Impact for Good, the Arizona Gives program host, believes in being transparent about the cost of fundraising. And it’s important to us that you know exactly why we have fees, what they mean for you, and how they’re used to support Arizona’s nonprofit community.

Why

To ensure we can continue to provide organizations and donors a world-class giving platform and game-changing resources at low cost, we charge:

  • A nonprofit registration fee for use of our platform year-round and access to giving day resources. Note: This year (2025) marks the first time since 2017 that AZ Impact for Good has changed/increased nonprofit registration fees. See below for more information. 
  • A processing fee of 8.5% + $0.30 per transaction fee using a credit/debit card on AZGives.org OR a processing fee of 7.0% + $1.50 per transaction fee made using an e-check/bank account on AZGives.org. Together with philanthropic support from our program sponsors, these fees help provide the revenue needed to power Arizona Gives, a program Arizona nonprofits and donors depend on. Arizona Gives (AZ Impact for Good) annually fundraises around 70% of the approximately $500,000 it takes to run this statewide giving program year-round, including the prize pool. The remaining funds are earned from program fees.

Fees help us maintain a secure fundraising platform and process credit card donations, provide no-cost resources and training opportunities, and encourage philanthropy throughout Arizona.

What

Fees and charges on AZGives.org support nonprofit programming like the Arizona Gives platform that provides multiple secure ways for donors to give to vetted nonprofits and provides nonprofits with critical fundraising training, toolkits, incentives, and resource guides.

Last year 77% of donors went the extra mile to cover technology and program fees for their favorite causes. This year donors have the opportunity to cover all fees (technology, processing and program) meaning 100% of their donation will go to their chosen nonprofit. On behalf of these organizations across Arizona and beyond, we’re grateful for this extra gesture of generosity and support for participating nonprofits.

How

Organizations: Registration Fee

To help us provide best-in-class fundraising tools, support, and resources amidst increased costs and demand for our services, we’re implementing a new tiered annual registration fee for AZGives.org. This year (2025) marks the first time since 2017 that AZ Impact for Good has changed/increased nonprofit registration fees. Registration fees are no longer refundable. Please remember, nonprofits are no longer responsible for always covering the merchant services percentage on donations since donors are now able to cover this, which is typically 75-80% of the time.

To uphold our vision of a thriving and equitable Arizona and ensure the AZGives.org platform remains accessible to all, we’ve tiered this fee to reflect an organization’s available financial resources. The nonprofit registration fee is based on two factors:

1. The size of an organization's annual revenue as indicated in the organization's most recent Arizona Gives registration, subject to IRS master file verification. 

2. The current status of a nonprofit’s membership with AZ Impact for Good* as of the date of registration.

You may pay online with a credit card or bank account. We cannot accept any other form of payment. Please note there are no platform fees on these registration payments when credit/debit cards are used, but there will be a $1.50 bank authorization fee for any organization that pays via their bank account.

Donors: Processing and Transaction Fees

A processing fee is charged on every donation made using a credit card on our platform. And we encourage donors to cover this cost on behalf of their favorite causes.

Credit/Debit Cards:

The 8.5% fee is broken down as follows:

    • 4.8%: Used directly to pay processing fees charged by credit/debit card companies and to help cover the technology cost of maintaining and keeping our fundraising platform affordable and secure for all Arizona organizations with our partner at Mightycause. This is a pass-through fee, and AZ Impact for Good does not set, or retain, any of this fee.
    • 3.7%: Invested directly back into the Arizona Gives program managed by AZ Impact for Good to cover expenses associated with operating Arizona Gives Day and fund next year’s program

All donations made on AZGives.org using a credit card are also subject to a $0.30 per transaction fee. This fee is a standard across many online fundraising platforms and donation processors to cover rising credit/debit card processing costs. 

E-check/Bank Account: 

A reduced processing fee is available for donations when using a bank account. Donors may give directly from their bank account on AZGives.org.

The 7.0% fee is broken down as follows:

    • 3.3%: Used directly to pay processing fees charged by credit card companies and to help cover the technology cost of maintaining and keeping our fundraising platform affordable and secure for all Arizona organizations with our partner at Mightycause. This is a pass-through fee, and AZ Impact for Good does not set, or retain, any of this fee.
    • 3.7%: Invested directly back into the Arizona Gives program managed by AZ Impact for Good to cover expenses associated with operating Arizona Gives Day and fund next year’s program.

All donations made on AZGives.org using an e-check/bank account are also subject to a $1.50 per transaction fee which are capped at $5.00 per transaction. This fee is a standard across many online fundraising platforms and donation processors to cover rising processing costs.

Maximizing your Donation

Reducing Fees on Donations

Donors may give directly from their bank account for donations or donation cart amounts above $100 using AZGives.org.

  • To use a bank account during checkout, simply select “Bank Account” from the “Payment Method” menu and follow the prompts to securely log in to your bank account.* More than 11,000 banks are a part of the Plaid payment system.
  • For donation checkouts under $100, the cost of using a bank account to process a gift is higher than the existing 8.5% + $0.30 per transaction fee for credit/debit card use. Since the cost to process gifts of $100 or more with a bank account is lower, we think it’s important to share that cost-savings with organizations and donors.

*If a donor has already set up their bank account for a checkout of $100 or more and chooses to save that account to their user profile for future gifts, subsequent gifts under $100 may be made using the saved bank account at a rate of 7.0% + $1.50 per transaction.

Cover the Fee for Your Favorite Cause

  • Why cover the fee? 
    • By supporting their favorite organization and covering the processing fee, donors are helping to build brighter, more equitable communities across Arizona and beyond, ensuring their favorite causes can continue to deliver the solutions that make our state a great place to live, work, and give.
    • When donors make a donation using AZGives.org, donors can—and are encouraged to—cover the 8.5% credit/debit card or 7.0% e-check processing fee on behalf of your chosen organization, ensuring that 100% of the donation goes directly to their favorite cause. 
  • Prior to 2025
    • Nonprofits were always responsible for covering the merchant services processing fee and donors were only able to cover a combination of the technology fee and program fee.  Now donors will be able to cover the entirety of fees, now called processing fees, if they choose.
    • Donors covered the technology/program fees for gifts made on AZGives.org at a rate between 75%-80%—and we’re grateful for this extra act of generosity for our nonprofit partners!

  • How does this work? 
    • During the donation process, donors are asked if they’d like to cover this fee for their chosen organization. If they select yes, 8.5% (or 7.0%) will be added to their total. The entire contribution amount is tax deductible, including the processing fee.
    • If a donor does not choose to cover the fee, the 8.5% credit/debit card (or 7.0% e-check) processing fee will be deducted from the donation before it is disbursed to their favorite cause, as is standard across most major fundraising platforms.
