Patagonia Regional Times

The Patagonia Regional Times' mission is to be a reliable and engaging source of news for the communities of Eastern Santa Cruz County - open to all views, focused on local issues, written and edited by local people, and providing a platform for community education and involvement.

We are a nonprofit organization, funded by donations, grants, community sponsorship and paid advertising. Our monthly print publication is distributed to newsstands and local merchants across the Eastern Santa Cruz County region. We also distribute a weekly e-newsletter and update our website daily along with local and breaking news events. Our website hosts a community calendar for local non-profits, schools, churches and small businesses to utilize free of charge.

I love how the PRT has always embraced and encouraged us here at the Patagonia Youth Enrichment Center (PYEC). I depend on the PRT to share the news about what is going on here, whether it's events taking place at the Youth Center, or highlighting the positive work that the youth are involved in. It gives us a way to let people know what's happening here who are not necessarily coming into the PYEC. The PRT gives us a wider audience in the community that we wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. I can depend on PRT to get the news out and so people know what we're doing and know how amazing our youth are. So often we hear about the high-achieving athletic and academic students, who are wonderful, but it's great to share the positive stories of the kids at the Youth Center that otherwise would fly under the radar. The PRT puts a spotlight on the things that they're doing when it might seem to them that nobody's really watching. Showcasing these kids is helping to build their self-esteem.
