The Pet Allies mission is to provide non-lethal solutions to pet over-population through low-cost spay/neuter services and place pets in caring homes.

Pet Allies, formerly known as Arizona Animal Wildlife League of the White Mountains, Inc., was established in the summer of 1996 when animal rescue was in its early stages. Due to limited funds, the number of pets accepted was minimal, and veterinary fees posed a significant challenge. The organization saved around 50-75 animals per year during this period.

In 2003, a committed group of volunteers formed a unified board and renamed the organization Pet Allies, Inc. to launch an ambitious spay and neuter initiative. With acquired grants, the organization increased its annual animal rescues to approximately 150 and conducted spaying and neutering procedures on nearly 1,000 animals each year.

The emphasis on spaying/neutering to prevent unnecessary animal deaths in local shelters led Pet Allies to open a spay/neuter clinic in 2007 with the assistance of a generous grant. The clinic's services significantly reduced the costs of spaying/neutering pets. Additionally, the clinic started providing wellness exams, vaccines, minor surgeries, and dental cleanings to assist low-income families in obtaining medical care for their pets while generating revenue to offset subsidized fees for spay and neuter surgeries.

In October 2012, Pet Allies collaborated with the City of Show Low to manage its Animal Control Shelter. Initially facing challenges typical of animal control shelters, the shelter had a 90% euthanasia rate. Pet Allies took on the task of operating the shelter, achieving a remarkable 96% save rate, effectively transforming it into a no-kill shelter.

Pet Allies' Animal Shelter accepts strays from the City of Show Low, Navajo County, and assists local pet owners in surrendering their pets when space permits. The shelter maintains a waiting list and cares for an average of over 1,200 animals annually.

Volunteers play a vital role in Pet Allies' ability to provide numerous services and programs to the community, contributing their time generously to the organization's success.

The Pet Allies Spay/Neuter Clinic attends to around 1,300 patients yearly, conducting spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals and pets of low-income owners. The partnership with the City of Show Low and Navajo County has been mutually beneficial, particularly for animals in local communities. Pet Allies is honored to be a respected partner and advocate for animals in the White Mountains area.
