Rincon/University Marching Band Association (RUMBA)

Rincon University Marching Band Association's mission is to provide support to students who would be unable to participate in the high school band program without its help. RUMBA offers ways for families and students to raise funds for band expenses and arranges for supplies, equipment, food and support for the band. It provides chaperones and volunteers for games, trips and competitions and helps to pay for all the competitions, transportation, instruments, uniform cleaning, staff and music.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit parent organization, RUMBA has been helping thousands of students since 2003. Our marching band has competed and been judged as one of the best state marching bands at the Arizona Marching Band Association (AZMBA) and Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) championships. The RUHS marching band has been awarded numerous accolades including Superior with Distinction.

The Rincon University High School band program is made up of students from two Tucson Unified School District schools sharing one campus - Rincon High School and University High School. During the second semester, RUMBA continues to support the award-winning RUHS band program which includes two jazz bands, wind ensemble, concert and symphonic bands, winter drumline and three winter guard teams.

Band participation provides numerous physical, educational and social benefits to students including regular exercise, structure and focus, exposure to music and fine arts, and perhaps most importantly 220+ friends to provide mentoring and positive reinforcement. Our band program grows each year, yet our school district and state continue to cut funding for fine arts and music education. RUMBA relies entirely donations and fundraising to keep the successful band program running.
