We connect people to the historic and cultural foundations and the living landscape of the Santa Cruz Valley and actively work towards its long-term stewardship.

In 2019, the U.S. Congress recognized the Santa Cruz River Valley in Southern Arizona for its significant contributions to this nation's history and development by designating it a National Heritage Area. As the local coordinating entity for the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area, we advocate for the region's heritage, realizing its importance in preserving our past, and its power to shape our future. With federal assistance and through local partnerships with like-minded organizations and stakeholders, we coordinate and support heritage-based economic and community development initiatives to steward 3,300 square-miles where natural and historic treasures and cultural traditions have thrived continuously for more than 4,000 years. We act as conveners, collaborators, supporters, educators, and storytellers to promote our heritage by celebrating the cultural diversity of the Santa Cruz Valley to unite all people in our diverse community and its rich heritage for generations to come.
