Save the Family equips families to address poverty, overcome homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency.

For 35 years, Save the Family has provided safe, affordable housing, supportive services, and case management for homeless families in Maricopa County. Our wraparound services empower families to regain self-sufficiency and set them on a path to lifelong success.

In Maricopa County, homelessness has surged significantly, with the homeless population increasing from 6,614 in 2019 to 9,435 in 2024. Eviction filings have also reached unprecedented levels, with landlords filing a record 87,197 eviction cases in 2024, surpassing the previous record set in 2005. On average, 370 families are falling into homelessness each month, highlighting the growing crisis in the region.

These alarming statistics highlight the urgent need for comprehensive support services for families experiencing housing instability. At Save the Family, we partner with each family to spark transformative change. Many of our clients face significant barriers such as low educational attainment, limited job skills, lack of childcare, and unreliable transportation, which often leave them trapped in low-wage jobs. To help, we provide a wide range of supportive and career services, including case management, budgeting classes, career development, and mental health care. Through these programs, adults gain valuable life skills and the necessary resources to break the cycle of poverty, rebuilding their homes into stable environments where they can confidently raise their children.

Our mission extends to creating nurturing environments for the children in our program, ensuring their well-being and fostering their development. By supplying school essentials and crafting individual education plans, we empower them to overcome the generational poverty that has burdened their lives, enabling them to concentrate on academic success and accessing opportunities previously out of reach.
