Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition commits to supporting and encouraging older adults in their quest to age in place in their community of choice by enhancing their independence, promoting higher quality of life, and reducing barriers to happiness, making the Verde Valley an attractive and sustainable retirement destination.
About 65% of the older adults we serve are 80 years and older. Most of them live alone, can no longer drive, and many suffer from chronic illnesses. Our "neighbors" depend on us for life-saving services including transportation to critical appointments, medication pick up, medication management, physical therapy, dialysis, grocery shopping, other urgent errands, and pet assistance. As our elderly clients age in place, they are facing more challenges and therefore need more care.
Your gift during Arizona Gives Day will help fund care management services to improve the quality of life for older adults.
VVCC now serves 5,353 older adults and adults with disabilities throughout the Verde Valley. Because half of the clients we serve live at or below the poverty level, all of our services are provided to them at no cost through the efforts of 150 dedicated volunteers.
We provide services to clients in 10 communities: Camp Verde, Clarkdale, Cornville, Cottonwood, Jerome, Lake Montezuma, McGuireville, Rimrock, Sedona, and Village of Oak Creek.
VVCC depends on individual donors for over half its funding. Your gift today can turn your caring into action and help older adults remain in their homes for as long as possible.
Mary Ann, 80, was suffering from depression when Verde Valley Caregivers Coalition came into her life. Losing her husband and living alone was taking its toll. With her slowing mobility and arthritis pain, Mary Ann was ready for help. VVCC appeared in Mary Ann’s life after a friend suggested she call us for help. We now help her with transportation to medical appointments, vet appointments, social visits, tech and business help, check-in phone calls for emotional support, and because she has low income, we provide special needs services like fixing her refrigerator, small home repairs, loaning of an emergency alert unit, and pet assistance.
Mary Ann also has a cat named Misty who provides her with unconditional love, and it’s so strong that when you approach Mary Ann’s outside door, Misty reacts like a Doberman.
We also love Mary Ann, and she loves us. “Thank you so much for all your help,” she says. You are my angels, and I love you.”
